of the data isolation transformers. Special detection and classification
circuitry prevent applying power to legacy equipment (NIC cards) that

have said that their chips can detect Cisco legacy PDs by detecting the

method, there is a simple software routine for the LTC4259 that will do

displaying a Class. There are 4 Classes. Each class

power device, class 2 is medium power, class 3 is high
power. Class 4 is reserved for future use. Class 0

power. A PSE can decide by the Class how to allocate it"s
power. This way, it is not providing full power to each

The original definition of RJ45 use 2 wires to transmit power. What is
the different power transmission on this discussion. What is the
transmission power limit as well as distance limit? How to take care of
noise immunity? My personal feeling is that it is meaningless for low
power equipment.The RJ45 connector (for 10Base-T) was originally
designed to carry two separate Ethernet connections, but some buildings
only wire two pairs (4 wires) through to the jack. The difference with
802.3af is that the power is sent on the same wires as the data, so no
extra wires are needed and it will work with buildings that only pass 4
wires through.Power limit is 12.95W at the PD end. Distance is the
same as the data: 100M. Noise immunity is taken care of by special 802-3af
data transformers. Most large equipment manufacturers now offer 802.3af
PoE power as their only method of inline power. |
